About the Author

Cijo Alex hails from the small plantation town of Pala in the Central Travancore region of Kerala. He was born as the second child to Olickal Jospeh Chandy and Ponnamma Chandy. He is married to Anoopa Benny and they are blessed with a daughter Norah Alex. His father, wife and brother in law are all Psychiatrists, while his sister Ceena Alex is a General Practitioner.

Cijo Alex completed his UG and PG medical studies from Tribhuvan University and Pondicherry University respectively. Later he underwent training in rTMS from Maastricht University. He is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at The Believers Church Medical College Hospital.

Cijo Alex is a regular columnist at various regional health magazines and weeklies. He is also active in both online and offline media, including TV shows about mental health. His areas of interest include addictions and geriatric psychiatry. He can be contacted at
